Access Control users can upload new users in bulk using a CSV file with accurate column headers. This
tutorial will outline how you can do this, saving you time from having to add new users individually. Bulk
user uploads are just another convenient feature for business owners to manage multiple users –
allowing them to utilize their Alarm.com Access Control system to the fullest.
Read on for an outline on how to format your CSV file, and then how to upload that file on the
Alarm.com Customer Website.
Proper Column Headers
Supported column headers are:
- First name
- Last name
- PIN code (optional)
- Access Card 2 (optional)
- Email (optional)
- Action (optional with the supported actions Create, Edit, and Delete. The default action is
Create)
Note: When updating an existing user using the Bulk Enrollment process, this does not overwrite or
remove that user’s current card credentials. Instead, it will add the new credential to the user alongside
the previous, meaning both will be associated with that user’s profile.
Adding Access Control users in bulk using the Customer Website
Note: Due to the way Microsoft Excel handles values, any PIN code or card number that begins with 0
will not display that leading zero by default. To fix this, select the specific cells or PIN code column
header and right-click, then choose Format Cells from the pop-up menu. Click the Number tab along the
top. Choose Custom from the Category tab list on the left. In the Type field, enter the number of 0s
necessary to accommodate the largest value. For example, the minimum length of a PIN code is four
digits, so you would need to type four 0s. Click OK to accept the change.
- Log into the Alarm.com Customer Website.
- Click User Access.
- Click Users.
- Click Bulk User Management.
- Once a CSV file has been created and formatted correctly, click Browse.
- Select the CSV file.
- Click Submit.
Depending on how many users were added from this process, it may take some time for them to appear
in the web dashboard or app.
